SPQRD is a joint venture between the lab and it's partner corporations. Our goal is to provide the focus, the infrastructure, and the essential scientific and technological facilities so that participating corporations, DbRD scientists and engineers are able to take a global lead in basic and applied research for the foreseeable future. SPQRD's mission is summarized in the following goals: Leading basic research and development in physics, material science and mathematics; Project specific R&D advancements in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials and mechanical engineering, communications, space science and automation; Leadership in the management of innovation and research operations; Leadership in crucial and specific technologies; Technology transfer to participating corporations and through new venture funding; and Staff with internationally acknowledged expertise.
